A lot of people still use DVDs today, even though they were released a while ago. That's because DVDs have a series of advantages, they can store a fair amount of data, they are cheap and they can be read by a large number of devices. But the problem with DVDs is that they can get scratched easily, putting all the data stored on them in danger.

That's why it's a good idea to create a backup of your DVD collection, so in case a disc gets scratched, you will be able to make a copy of it. An application which will come useful in this situation is ImgBurn. As the name suggests, this program was created for burning images on DVD discs, but it can also help you create disc images from DVDs or from files and folders.

After the program has been launched, the user will be presented with a welcome screen, from where he can launch the program functions that he needs. ImgBurn is able to create images either from DVD discs or from files and folders located on the hard disk. The application can create any type of disc image and it's compatible with all the image standards available today, like ISO9660 or UDF.

After adding the desired files and folders to the program's interface, the image will be quickly created. One can select the image format that the program will create, which includes ISO, NRG, MINIISO and IMG.

After the image has been created, the user can easily burn it to a blank disc. Optionally, he can write files and folders directly to the DVD, in case he hasn't got a disc image available. After the disc has been created, ImgBurn offers the possibility of verifying it, for making sure that the data stored on the disc is perfectly readable and not corrupted.

ImgBurn can work with re-writable DVDs but, unfortunately, it cannot erase them, so the user will need to use an external application for this purpose.

Pros

It features a simple interface which allows you to create images from discs or from files and folders located on the hard disk. Besides that, images can be easily written to blank discs. Furthermore, created discs can be verified for errors.

Cons

The program cannot erase re-writable DVDs. ImgBurn is an easy and efficient solution for backing up your DVD collection and for burning disc images.
